JEE Main 2026: For candidates with discrepancies in their photos and identification documents in the JEE Main applications, the NTA has extended the photo verification deadline to January 15. Non Aadhaar candidates will need to upload their certificate and carry a hard copy to the exam center.
JEE Main 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an important advisory for candidates appearing in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026. This advisory is for candidates whose uploaded photographs and identity documents show discrepancies in their applications. The NTA has extended the last date for photo verification to January 15 for such non Aadhaar candidates.
According to the official notice issued by the NTA, a link has been sent to the registered email IDs of the affected candidates, through which they must upload the certificate in PDF format. Additionally, candidates are required to carry a printed copy of the certificate to the examination center on the exam day, where physical verification will be conducted.
The JEE Main 2026 examination will begin on January 21
The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 examination will be conducted by the NTA between January 21 and January 30. Before the exam, a city intimation slip will be issued to inform candidates about their exam city. It will be available on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in, and candidates will be able to download it using their application number and password.
The NTA stated that JEE Main 2026 will be conducted in two sessions. Registration for Session 1 was carried out between October 31 and November 27, 2025. During the scrutiny of applications, discrepancies were found in the identity documents and photographs of some candidates, following which this action was taken.
Guidelines have already been issued earlier as well
Earlier, the NTA had asked candidates to upload a signed certificate verified by their school or college principal or headmaster along with a recent photograph. However, many candidates complained that they were facing difficulties in reaching the concerned authorities.
Keeping these complaints in mind, the NTA has relaxed the rules and now allows candidates to get their certificates verified by a Class-I gazetted officer. This includes Tehsildars, Revenue Officers, Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDM), and District Collectors. Indian candidates residing abroad can get their certificates verified by a Class-I gazetted officer at the Indian Embassy.
The NTA has advised candidates to complete all the necessary formalities well in time to avoid any problems on the day of the examination.
