The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission has cancelled the recognition of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Medical Excellence Institute. As a result, the permission for 50 MBBS seats for the academic year 2025-26 has also been withdrawn.

This decision was taken after a surprise inspection of the institute, which found deficiencies in meeting the minimum standards set by the medical regulator.

According to details shared by officials, the institute failed to comply with key requirements related to infrastructure, number of faculty, and other necessary standards. For this reason, the recognition of this institute has been cancelled.

From the Next Session, The Institute Will Not be Able to Admit Students

According to the National Medical Commission (NMC), this action was taken after receiving several complaints against the institute. Following this decision by MARB, the college will not be eligible to admit MBBS students in the upcoming sessions.

What will Happen to the Further Studies of Students Already Enrolled?

Students who were already studying at this institute will now be transferred to other government medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir. They will be able to continue and complete their further studies from the institute to which they are transferred. This transfer will be carried out by creating additional seats in accordance with the existing regulatory norms.

In 2025, 50 MBBS Seats had been Allocated

This institute, located in Reasi district, was allocated 50 MBBS seats on 8 September 2025. Teaching activities had started in the university’s administrative block since November.
