After the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, protests have intensified in several states of India. Apart from Kashmir, members of the Shia community have also taken to the streets in Lucknow. A high alert has been issued in Uttar Pradesh. On Sunday morning, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting and instructed all districts to maintain special vigilance. Consequently, police and security agencies’ surveillance has been increased in Lucknow as well as in various districts across the state.
In Lucknow, the Shia Community will Observe Three Days of Mourning
Under the three day mourning declared on the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei, the Shia community will pay tribute by keeping their establishments closed. In this regard, Maulana Kalbe Jawad has appealed to the entire Muslim community and all humanitarian-minded people to participate in the mourning.
He stated that a mourning assembly will be held at Chhota Imambara on Sunday at 8 PM, followed by a candle march. Maulana has appealed to the Shia community across the country to hold mourning assemblies simultaneously at 8 PM and, wherever possible, organize candle marches. He also urged everyone to attend the mourning assemblies in large numbers to pay tribute to the late leader.
Regarding the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, a protesting woman said that those with treachery in their blood deceitfully killed Khamenei. She added that if one Khamenei is killed, thousands of Khameneis will rise. She also claimed that Israel and the United States are deceitful.
People Have also Taken to the Streets in Kashmir
Meanwhile, protests took place in several parts of Kashmir. According to officials, hundreds of people, especially in areas with a significant Shia population, took to the streets. The protesters raised slogans against the United States and Israel, expressed solidarity with Iran, and condemned the attack. During the demonstrations, images of Khamenei and banners in support of Iran were displayed, along with black flags and traditional mourning songs (noha).
“Do Not Remain Silent”: Iranian Embassy’s Global Appeal After Khamenei’s Death in India
Following the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Iranian Embassy in India appealed to governments worldwide to strongly condemn the US-Israeli attack and not remain silent. In a statement, the embassy expressed deep sorrow and grief over Khamenei’s death. Iran’s state media confirmed early Sunday that his death resulted from an attack carried out by the United States and Israel.
The embassy stated that independent and justice-loving nations should condemn this blatant crime in clear terms and must not remain silent in the face of aggression. The statement also warned that the United States and Israel would face serious consequences for this action. Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a warning of retaliation, claiming that it has begun counteractions against American positions in West Asia.
In its statement, the Iranian Embassy said that the people of Iran will continue on their path with determination and resolve, and no disruption will be allowed in the functioning of the country. It also stated that the sacrifice of the martyrs will further strengthen the nation’s commitment to protecting its independence and dignity.
