Bharti Airtel and Tata Teleservices will have to deposit their pending Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) installment by March 31. This has been stated by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). These two companies are required to pay approximately ₹10,000 crore to the government by that date.
According to the DoT, these companies have not received any relief like Vodafone Idea (Vi). Therefore, as per the Supreme Court’s order, they must pay the AGR installment, and failure to do so will be considered contempt of court.
Amid this news, shares of Tata Teleservices and Vi have declined today.
How Much Did the Shares Fall?
Amid news of the AGR installment payment, shares of Airtel and Tata Teleservices have declined. Around 10 AM, Tata Teleservices’ share was down by ₹0.61, or 1.84%, at ₹32.53, while Airtel’s share slipped 1.87% to ₹1807.65.
How Much AGR is Due on Whom?
According to media reports, Bharti Airtel has to pay more than ₹5,000 crore as AGR dues, while Tata Teleservices needs to pay over ₹4,000 crore. It is also being said that when the interest included in the installment is added, the total amount will increase further.
Vodafone Idea Had Received Relief
As a major relief for Vi, the government announced on December 31, 2025, that the company’s AGR-related dues would be frozen at ₹87,695 crore and allowed to be paid in installments over 16 years until 2041. Most of the AGR payments will begin after 10 years.
Meanwhile, a DoT committee is re-evaluating Vi’s AGR dues, and this process is expected to be completed soon. The final amount the company will have to pay is likely to be significantly reduced. If that happens, it will provide further relief to the company.
