BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari said regarding the murder of his personal assistant Chandranath Rath in Madhyamgram that it was a pre-planned murder carried out as part of a well-thought-out conspiracy. He said the entire plan was prepared in advance, and surveillance/reconnaissance had been conducted for 2–3 days beforehand.

Speaking to reporters outside the hospital, Suvendu Adhikari said, “This was a pre-planned murder, and the DGP has also said the same. Surveillance was carried out for 2–3 days, and the entire murder was carefully planned. The police have started the investigation. We are deeply grieving, and we do not have words to condemn this incident.”

Clues Found by the Police

Our entire leadership from Delhi has taken information about this matter. Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar has spoken to the family of the deceased and to the police. Various leaders and elected MLAs have come here from their respective areas. The police have found some evidence, and they will investigate further.

He further said, “This is the result of 15 years of ‘maha-jungle raj’ (extreme lawlessness). The BJP will begin the work of cleaning out the goons here.”

What Did the DGP Say?

Siddh Nath Gupta said, “We have started investigating this case. We have seized the four-wheeler used in the crime, but reports suggest that the vehicle’s number plate was fake and had been tampered with. We recovered live cartridges and used cartridges from the crime scene. Eyewitness accounts and evidence are being examined, and further investigation is underway.”

What Did the Eyewitness Say?

An eyewitness said, “As soon as Chandra’s car passed near my vehicle, it suddenly stopped in the middle of the road. A person on a motorcycle came and started firing at the left side of the car. He appeared quite skilled and fled the scene immediately. It seemed like everything had been pre-planned. The shots were fired from very close range.”

He further said, “I heard the sound of two rounds being fired. The incident took place between 10:30 pm and 11:00 pm, about 200–300 meters from the hospital. People rushed the injured to the hospital, and the driver of the car was also shot.”

Surrounded the Vehicle and Fired Multiple Rounds in Rapid Succession

While Chandranath Rath was inside a moving car, four bullets were fired at him, three of which hit him. The suspects followed his vehicle, and when the car slowed down, they opened fire. Bullet marks and cracks were clearly visible on the front left window of the car.

The BJP has accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of being responsible for the killing.

The BJP has made a serious allegation regarding the murder of Suvendu Adhikari’s personal assistant. BJP leader Arjun Singh said that Abhishek Banerjee was behind the killing. He added that this was meant to send a message that even if they are not in power, they remain influential and dominant.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar said that once the BJP comes to power, “we will set everything right.”
