In a major move into the gaming industry, The Walt Disney Co. announced on Wednesday that it has entered into a significant partnership with Epic Games, the creators of the popular “Fortnite” game. Disney is investing $1.5 billion in Epic Games to develop a comprehensive “games and entertainment universe.” This ambitious project aims to integrate games, television shows, and a wide array of characters from Disney’s extensive portfolio, including Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and Avatar franchises, among others.

Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, highlighted the magnitude of this venture, stating, “This marks Disney’s biggest entry ever into the world of games and offers significant opportunities for growth and expansion.” The collaboration between Disney and Epic Games is not entirely new, as the two giants have previously joined forces on “Fortnite” content. Notably, their collaboration on the Marvel “Nexus War with Galactus” event captivated over 15.3 million concurrent players, underscoring the potential of their partnership.

The investment and collaborative efforts between Disney and Epic Games signify an exciting future for fans of both entities, promising innovative and immersive gaming and entertainment experiences.
