Army Vehicle Falls into 200 Foot Deep Gorge in Jammu & Kashmir; 10 Soldiers Killed, 7 Injured

Accident in Doda: A major road accident has occurred in Doda, Jammu & Kashmir, where an army vehicle fell into a gorge. 10 soldiers lost their lives and 7 were seriously injured and admitted to the hospital. The accident took place on the Bhaderwah-Chamba interstate road near the Khanni Top area. As soon as the incident was reported, locals, police, and army personnel launched a rescue operation together.

Bullet Proof Vehicle Met with an Accident

The injured soldiers were given first aid on the spot and then airlifted to Udhampur. The army vehicle involved in the accident was a bulletproof vehicle. There were 17 soldiers on board, traveling towards a high-altitude post, when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to plunge into a 200-foot-deep gorge, rolling and overturning as it fell.

Injured Soldiers Have Been Admitted to a Military Hospital for Treatment

Army officials have stated that the accident occurred in Thanala, Bhaderwah sub-division. The bodies of the soldiers who lost their lives have been recovered, while the injured were airlifted to Udhampur Military Hospital. The army convoy was traveling on the Bhaderwah-Chamba road in Doda, but the route was in poor condition and filled with rocks, which caused the army vehicle to meet with the accident.

A Similar Accident Occurred 9 Months Ago as Well

It is worth noting that two similar accidents occurred last year.

  • The first incident happened on May 4, 2025, in the Battery Chashma area of Ramban district, Jammu & Kashmir, when an army vehicle fell into a 600-meter-deep gorge, claiming the lives of three soldiers — Amit Kumar, Sujit Kumar, and Man Bahadur.
  • The second incident took place on December 24, 2025, in Poonch district, when an army van plunged into a 350-foot-deep gorge, resulting in the deaths of 5 out of 18 soldiers on board.
