Political stir has intensified as the central investigative agency, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), conducted raids on the residence and office of Kolkata IPAC chief Prateek Jain. The seriousness of the matter has increased further as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself arrived at Prateek Jain’s residence.

According to sources, the ED is conducting this raid in a case of alleged financial irregularities. The investigation team is simultaneously examining documents and carrying out other necessary procedures at Prateek Jain’s residence and office. Mamata Banerjee’s presence at the site during this operation is being seen as politically highly significant.

It is noteworthy that Mamata Banerjee herself reached the location where the ED team was conducting its investigation. Her arrival made the atmosphere even more sensitive. Political analysts say that this move is being seen as a political statement against the actions of central agencies. Earlier too, in West Bengal, there have been disputes between the state government and the Centre over actions by the ED and other central agencies.

Mamata Banerjee Serious Allegation Over the ED Raid Saying: They Came to Steal the Party’s Documents and Strategy

Responding to the ED raid, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that it is very unfortunate that the ED came to take documents from our party’s IT sector office in this manner. She described the action as political persecution and said that all of this is happening according to the Home Minister’s script, who himself is incapable of maintaining the country’s security.

The Chief Minister alleged that the ED seized her party’s documents without any security measures, and in the process, names of people are being removed in some cases. She specifically referred to the SIR case, claiming that names are being erased and documents are being misused.

Chief Minister alleged that the central government’s investigative agencies and the Home Ministry have failed in their responsibility towards the country and democracy. She said that two parallel efforts are being carried out in the country on one hand, attempts to remove people’s names from the voter list, and on the other, the illegal collection of sensitive data. The Chief Minister described this as a major threat to democracy.

Mamata Banerjee also stated that she had prior information about such an action. Therefore, all hard disks and essential data related to the party were secured in advance to ensure that the party’s internal operations and strategies would not be harmed in any way by the seizure.

She said that her IT office has been targeted before, and she herself will go there to review the entire situation. The Chief Minister clarified that it is her responsibility to see the purpose and level at which this action has been carried out.

Mamata Banerjee accused the central agencies of trying to intimidate and weaken opposition parties. She said that her party will continue to strongly fight this political conspiracy on both legal and political fronts.
