Pakistan has launched a heavy attack on the Afghanistan border, reportedly killing 19 people. This attack could once again escalate tensions between the two countries. Pakistan claimed that it targeted terrorist camps, while the Afghan Taliban stated that the strikes hit civilian locations.

Government spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid wrote on X: “Last night, they carried out bombings on our civilians in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces, resulting in dozens of people, including women and children, being martyred and injured.”

Taliban is Preparing to Take Retaliatory Action Against Pakistan

They stated that the Pakistani army has once again intruded into Afghan territory. Officials are assessing the damage caused by these attacks. While there has been no immediate response from the Afghan Taliban, sources say that Afghanistan is considering retaliatory action.

Pakistan: Terrorist Camps were Targeted

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed the attack in a post on X, citing three attacks that have occurred since the start of Ramadan last week. He stated, “Based on intelligence information, Pakistan targeted seven terrorist camps and locations in border areas associated with the Pakistani Taliban and its affiliates.”

Tarar stated that Pakistan also targeted an organization linked to the Islamic State group, which had claimed responsibility for a recent attack on a mosque in Islamabad that killed 31 people and injured over 160. This was one of the deadliest attacks on Islamabad since the 2008 Marriott Hotel bombing.

The Pakistani army stated that despite repeated requests to the Afghan Taliban government to take measures to prevent terrorist groups and foreign agents from using Afghan territory to carry out terrorist activities in Pakistan, the Afghan Taliban regime has failed to take any concrete action against them.
