Rahul Gandhi claimed that Prime Minister Modi was defending Gautam Adani and criticised him for not requesting an investigation on the accusations made against the businessman by the US-based research firm Hindenburg.

The leader of the Congress asserted on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s failure to look into claims made by a US-based research group against industrialist Gautam Adani suggests that Adani is being shielded from Modi.

He claimed that the queries put to the prime minister were not answered.

“I’m not happy with it, but it tells the truth. There was no mention of a probe. If he is not a buddy, he ought to have consented to an investigation. Although benami money was being transferred and there was no investigation into shell companies in the defence sector, the prime minister remained silent.

After the prime minister responded to the vote of gratitude on the President’s address, Gandhi informed reporters, “It is obvious that the prime minister is protecting him.”

Gandhi argued that the prime minister should have stated that there will be an investigation into the claims because this is a matter of national security and affects the nation’s infrastructure.

“This is a massive con. Even if it was not said by him. I comprehend that he (the PM) is attempting to protect him (Adani), and there are good grounds for doing so, he remarked.

The former head of the Congress responded, “I did not receive any reply from the prime minister to my queries,” when asked if he had received the answers to his questions.

“This is a massive con. Even if it was not said by him. I realise that the Prime Minister (PM) is doing his best to keep Adani safe, and there are good reasons for this, “added the Gandhi scion.

The prime minister suffered from shell shock. There was no response, and he was in disbelief. I haven’t posed any challenging queries. I merely inquired as to how frequently Adani travelled with you. How frequently did he encounter you. I asked basic inquiries, but I got no responses,” he claimed.

When asked if he was pleased with the prime minister’s response, he responded, “I am not satisfied, but it reveals the reality.
