Under the ‘Mission Rozgar’ programme, the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has provided 63,943 government jobs to youth, stating that the recruitment process was conducted without bribery or political favoritism.

Citing Punjab as an example of transparent recruitment, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that under the ‘Mission Rozgar’ initiative, 63,943 young people have so far been provided government jobs without bribery or political favoritism.

While distributing appointment letters to 916 newly recruited youth from various departments in Mohali on Tuesday, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that these appointments demonstrate the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s commitment to providing government jobs under the ‘Mission Rozgar’ initiative without bribery or political favoritism.

Referring to the provision of government jobs to 63,943 young people so far, the Chief Minister said that more appointment letters would be issued in the coming days. He added that under previous governments, decisions on recruitment were made on the basis of bribery and political patronage rather than merit.

Sharing glimpses of the event on X, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, ‘Today in Mohali, appointment letters were distributed to 916 young people from various departments. They were wished success in serving Punjab and its people with dedication and integrity. So far, 63,943 young people have been provided government jobs without bribery or political favoritism. In the coming days, the process of issuing appointment letters to youth under the “Mission Rozgar” initiative will continue.

Addressing a ceremony at the Vikas Bhawan while distributing appointment letters to newly recruited youth, the Chief Minister said that for decades, relatives and associates of those in power had sidelined the merit of the state’s young men and women, destroying the dreams of thousands of talented youths. He said that earlier, the rights of Punjab’s youth were taken away by favourites of the ruling establishment. Referring to freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, Mann said it would be deeply distressing for such great martyrs to see that, even more than 70 years after independence, their dreams had not been fulfilled, calling it a matter of shame for all.

The Chief Minister stressed that since assuming office, his government has been making continuous efforts to realise the dreams of the nation’s great national heroes. He said that while previous governments had looted funds meant for education and employment, his administration had opened the doors to government jobs for the youth. He added that over the past four years, 63,943 young people have been provided government jobs.

Describing the occasion as a historic moment for the newly appointed candidates, the Chief Minister said it was a ‘golden day’ for the youth who had secured jobs across various departments. He said the Punjab government had crossed the milestone of providing more than 63,000 government jobs through a fully transparent process. In contrast, he added, the central government was introducing schemes with conditions that were not favourable to the common people.

Highlighting his government’s welfare initiatives, the Chief Minister said that the Punjab government has launched the ‘Chief Minister Health Scheme,’ the state’s largest healthcare reform programme. Under the scheme, every Punjabi family will now be entitled to cashless treatment worth up to ₹10 lakh, doubling the previous limit of ₹5 lakh. The programme is expected to benefit approximately 6.5 million families.

He further stated that the state government has closed 19 toll plazas in Punjab, resulting in daily savings of ₹64 lakh for the public. A total of 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics have been opened across the state, providing free treatment and medicines. Since July 2022, 90 percent of households have been receiving free electricity. Despite these initiatives, he added, the opposition continues to focus on finding faults in the government’s work.

The Chief Minister said that Punjab has inherited a rich legacy of great athletes, generals, philanthropists, and other eminent personalities who have served the nation through their dedication and hard work. He further stated that unemployment is the root cause of many social problems, and the government is focused on eliminating it at its source.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to transparent recruitment, the Chief Minister said that all vacant positions are being filled promptly through a well-structured and transparent system. He added that not a single appointment out of nearly 64,000 jobs has been challenged in court, which he described as a matter of pride for the Punjab government, as all appointments have been made solely on the basis of merit.

Describing the occasion as memorable, the Chief Minister said that the newly appointed youth are now part of the Punjab government family. He added that, for the first time in the state’s history, any government has provided a record of over 63,000 jobs in just four years. He emphasized that all appointments have been made on the basis of merit, free from corruption and nepotism. The Chief Minister further stated that the government is determined to realise the dreams of freedom fighters and make Punjab a progressive state.

The Chief Minister said that health, education, electricity, water, infrastructure, and law and order are the key priorities of his government. He appealed to the youth to carry out their duties with full professional commitment and to use their positions wisely in the service of the public.

Newly Appointed Punjab Government Employees Praise Merit Based Recruitment, Thank CM for Opportunity

During the event, among the newly appointed candidates, Dr. Pooja from Rupnagar said that being part of the state government was a matter of pride for her. Jasnpreet Kaur from Muktsar Sahib thanked the Chief Minister for the recruitment drive, while Dr. Damanpreet Kaur from Amritsar appreciated the fair recruitment process.

Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, a veterinary officer from Moga, stated that he had secured the job entirely on the basis of merit. Cooperative Inspector Jaspreet Kaur added that she had also obtained another government job without any bribery or recommendation.

Dr. Mukesh, highlighting the transparency of the recruitment process, said that this was his third government job and that he dedicates it to his mother and the people of Punjab. Tamanna, a staff nurse from Amritsar, described the appointment as the fulfilment of a dream for her family.

The event was attended by Cabinet Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, Gurmeet Singh Khudian, and other officials.
