The ICC also clarified that Bangladesh will be given the opportunity to host an ICC event in the future. Following Bangladesh’s withdrawal, Scotland was included in the tournament in their place.

While it is unfortunate that Bangladesh will not participate in the T20 World Cup 2026, the BCB remains extremely important to us. They have a proud history and have played a key role in the development of the global game. With over 200 million passionate cricket fans in Bangladesh, we want to ensure that their absence does not have a long-term impact.”
The ICC has stated that no sanctions or fines will be imposed on Bangladesh. The country still retains the right to approach the ICC’s dispute resolution committee.
