Xiaomi 17 Ultra Launch: With Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Leica Cameras

The Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi has launched its new flagships, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Xiaomi 17, in the global market. This time, the company has presented the phones with a professional camera setup in partnership with its camera partner Leica. Both smartphones will be launched in India on March 11.

Talking about the prices, the Xiaomi 17 has a starting price of €999 (around ₹1,07,400). The Xiaomi 17 Ultra starts at €1,499 (approximately ₹1,61,100). In addition, the company has also introduced the Leica Leitzphone Powered by Xiaomi, priced at €1,999 (around ₹2,14,900). This series has been launched keeping the premium flagship segment in mind, where both camera and performance play a key role.

High End Performance with a 3nm Chipset

Both devices are equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, which is built on a 3-nanometer process. This means the phone will operate with faster speeds, better multitasking, and lower power consumption. This chipset will play a key role in gaming, 4K video recording, and AI-based features.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra: Professional Grade Camera System

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a 1-inch LOFIC main sensor, named Light Fusion 1050L. It comes with a 200-megapixel Leica telephoto lens, supporting 75–100mm mechanical optical zoom. Using sensor crop technology, this can be extended up to 400mm.

The phone supports video recording up to 4K 120fps in Dolby Vision and ACES Log format, available on both the main and telephoto lenses. This feature is considered important for professional videography.

Design, Battery and Display

This smartphone is 8.29mm thin and weighs 218.4 grams. It has a 6,000mAh battery, supporting 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. As for the display, it features a 6.9-inch OLED panel with a peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits. With a 1–120Hz LTPO refresh rate and DC dimming technology, this screen claims to provide a smooth and eye-friendly experience.

Xiaomi 17: Camera and Selfie

The standard Xiaomi 17 features a Light Fusion 950 (1/1.31-inch) main sensor. It comes with a 60mm Leica floating telephoto lens, which helps in portrait photography and 10cm macro shots. The phone also has a 50MP front camera with autofocus support, promising better selfies and video calling experiences.

Battery and Display

This phone is 8.06mm thick and weighs 191 grams. It has a 6,330mAh battery, which is even larger than the Ultra model. Charging support here is also 100W wired and 50W wireless. The Xiaomi 17 features a 6.3-inch OLED display, offering 3,500 nits peak brightness and a 1–120Hz LTPO refresh rate.

Xiaomi 17 Series is Scheduled to Launch in India on March 11, 2026

The company has clarified that both models will be launched in the Indian market on March 11. The premium smartphone segment in India is growing rapidly, where camera quality, battery life, and high-end performance are key factors. In this context, the Xiaomi 17 series is directly preparing to challenge other flagship devices.
