HP SET 2026 Exam: The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has released the official notification for HP SET 2026 today, on 3 January 2026. This examination is conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professor positions in universities and colleges across the state. Interested candidates can apply online through the Commission’s official website from 3 January to 30 January 2026.
HP SET 2026 is an eligibility examination in which no direct vacancies are filled. Candidates who qualify the exam become eligible to apply for Assistant Professor positions in universities and colleges in Himachal Pradesh. This examination will be conducted in the following 22 subjects:

Application Fee for HP SET 2026 (Himachal State Eligibility Test)
Candidates applying for HP SET 2026 are required to pay a non-refundable examination fee. The fee varies according to the candidate’s category and must be paid online during the application process. The category-wise fee is as follows:
- General candidates: ₹1,150
- General-EWS / OBC-NCL (Himachal Pradesh): ₹600
- Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, BPL, and Persons with Disabilities of Himachal Pradesh: ₹325
Who can apply for HP SET 2026?
Candidates who meet the following eligibility criteria can apply:
- The candidate must have a Master’s degree (or equivalent) from a recognized university in a relevant subject.
- General category candidates must have secured at least 55% marks in their Master’s degree.
- SC / ST / OBC-NCL / PwD candidates must have secured at least 50% marks.
- Candidates who are appearing in the final year of their Master’s degree or whose results are awaited can also apply (subject to conditions mentioned in the notification).
- There is no upper age limit to apply for HP SET 2026.
- In addition, candidates who have completed their PhD on or before 19 September 1991 will be given a 5% relaxation in marks.
Candidates who qualify HP SET become eligible to apply for Assistant Professor posts in universities and colleges of Himachal Pradesh.
