The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a notice to its fast bowler Naseem Shah over a social media post. Naseem later deleted the post, but the PCB has still asked him to submit an explanation. The fast bowler had written the post about Punjab’s female Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz.
In his post, Naseem mocked Maryam by calling her a “queen,” which has angered the PCB. Naseem is currently playing for Rawalpindi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). This issue seems to be increasing his troubles.
PCB Has Initiated Disciplinary Action
PCB has stated that it has initiated action against Naseem for indiscipline. In its statement, the PCB said, “Naseem Shah will have to submit his response within the given deadline. The PCB is committed to maintaining professional standards, the terms of the contract, and the integrity of the game.”
In its statement, the PCB did not mention the specific clause or rule that Naseem violated. Naseem is one of Pakistan’s emerging bowlers, but the PCB is in no mood to show any leniency over his actions.
PCB Issues Show Cause Notice to Naseem Shah Over Controversial Comment on Maryam Nawaz at PSL Match
Maryam Nawaz had attended the first PSL match at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium as a guest, where PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi welcomed her. The Chief Minister of Punjab was introduced to players from both teams. In response, Naseem posted on X, saying, “Why is she being given such respect as if she is the queen at Lord’s?”
Maryam is the daughter of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Naseem later deleted the comment he had made against her, but the PCB has still issued the fast bowler a show-cause notice.
