Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s five-nation tour began on Friday in the UAE. He will then travel to the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy. Upon his arrival in the UAE, PM Modi received a grand welcome.
Following this, a bilateral meeting between PM Modi and President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan resulted in a significant agreement on LPG supplies between the two countries. MoUs were also signed regarding strategic petroleum reserves, defense cooperation, and a ship repair cluster in Vadinar.
I Have Come to My Second Home: PM Modi
Extending a warm welcome to President Sheikh Mohammed, Prime Minister Modi said, “I have been talking to you over the phone, but I was very keen to meet you in person.”
He expressed gratitude for the President’s warm welcome and said, “As you said – I have come to my second home. This feeling means a lot to me.” Modi also thanked the President for the UAE’s condolences to the families affected by the recent natural disaster in India.
Several Important Agreements Were Signed
Several important agreements were signed between the two countries during the talks, including the Framework Agreement on Strategic Defence Partnership between India and the UAE and the Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Petroleum Reserves.
In the presence of Prime Minister Modi and President Sheikh Mohammed, the two sides also exchanged Memoranda of Understanding to enhance cooperation in various areas. These agreements are expected to provide new impetus to defense, energy security, and economic cooperation between the two countries.
