Nitin Gadkari’s Statement

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said, “India is rapidly moving towards adopting alternative fuels and clean mobility technologies. The introduction of flex-fuel motorcycles by Hero MotoCorp in the mass segment is a major step.

Nitin Gadkari further said that this would bring several benefits to the country, such as reducing crude oil imports, promoting the adoption of ethanol, empowering farmers, and strengthening the vision of a self-reliant India (Atmanirbhar Bharat) as well as a developed India (Viksit Bharat).

The government has been appealing for fuel conservation in the country for a long time. Due to rising tensions in West Asia, the supply of petrol, diesel, and CNG has been severely affected. In addition, petrol and CNG prices were increased four times in just 10 days last month.

In this context, the government is planning to increase the ethanol content in petrol sold in the country. A notification regarding this has already been issued. Moving beyond E20, preparations are now underway for E25 and E30 blends. This means that in the future, petrol may contain 25 to 30 percent ethanol.
